This is good from The Huffington Post.  "In Social Media and Politics, Engagement and Influence Trumps Follower Count".  This article deals specifically with the 2012 Presidential Election.  Its funny how years ago, media agencies used polls to determine who the likely candidate would be.  Now, the news agencies are following Social Media follower posts to get an idea of popular opinion on candidates.  Interesting article!

  1. Hi Suzanne,
Thanks for sharing this post. Part of what I think is helpful with digital media is that it makes it easier for people to weigh in and make their voice heard. Several times in the past, I have felt compelled to write to my Congressman to voice my opinion. It isn't easy! I believe many people have become apathetic because it has been so hard to provide information or give an opinion.

With digital media, our voice can reach out immediately to many sources, and we can have conversations with people around the world to learn different perspectives helping us make wise choices. This connectivity and its ability to provide influence are, in my opinion, a very powerful and good use of the tools of digital media.

  2. Hi Sue - So true! Social Media is a blessing and a curse. You know, I was wondering if there was this much debate and controversy when the telephone came out...most likely no because there was NO internet then. Ha.

I appreciate your comment and thank you for posting here!

    Regards,
    Suzanne
